Ukraine has announced the commencement of large-scale manufacturing for a new domestically developed interceptor drone to enhance its air defences. Three initial producers have begun production, with 11 more preparing to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials stated this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Combat Conditions

The drones will be based on a domestically developed technology known as “Octopus” designed to neutralize Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and demonstrated successful “at night, under jamming and flying low,” officials stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Latest Attack on Kyiv Described as Calculated

The Ukrainian president characterized Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and wicked” following six people were killed and dozens injured in a series of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv just after midnight this past Friday, with enemy UAVs soon detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Zelenskyy stated the country was targeted by 430 drones and 18 missiles. Those killed had been inside their residences in an apartment building on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Dozens of additional structures were damaged, among them the Azerbaijani embassy.

Diplomatic Objection Following Diplomatic Compound Damage

The Azerbaijani government announced it issued a formal objection to the Russian ambassador this past Friday following the embassy damage. An explosion from a Moscow's missile demolished a section of the embassy’s perimeter wall and resulted in significant destruction to the embassy grounds, officials from Baku stated. There were no personnel injured, and a ministry spokesperson said the diplomatic mission in Ukraine was maintaining operations.

Moscow's Glide Bomb Manufacturing Sees Major Expansion

Moscow plans to manufacture up to 120,000 glide bombs in the current year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official disclosed, among them 500 of an innovative, longer-range version that is capable of targeting more towns and cities. Russian forces were firing 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with last month’s daily average being about 170, according to defence ministry data.

Ukrainian Strikes Target Russian Oil Facilities

Russia’s maritime terminal of the port city halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – representing two percent of worldwide oil production – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its forces had fired Neptune cruise missiles and used multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukraine separately targeted an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels overnight.

Global Restrictions Affect Russian Energy Company

The number two oil producer Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with interested parties concerning its foreign assets following last month’s sanctions from the UK and the US and the collapse of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “Final arrangements will be announced once the final agreements have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” the company commented.

Zelenskyy Schedules Visit to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, on Tuesday to confer with parliament members a day after his trip to France, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president will convene with representatives from both chambers of the legislature during his visit, the Spanish statement said.
