Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
