The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers
The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden championship series after 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Down three runs to one, Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh inning, propelling the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 triumph in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm just so happy for our team, the city, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "It's truly an amazing experience."
George Springer has now connected for twenty-three October home runs, placing him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I want up in that situation besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.
The Mariners, after leading the early in the series, remain the one club never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their work in the campaign.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this one," he continued.
Toronto's team secured the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
