Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's ten-match winning streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the international break, but can the English top division frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.
In week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
The singer's new album, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.
Football and Family Experiences
Olly is a talented footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a player.
"{I recently played in a benefit game the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son decides to play instead."
The singer and his wife his partner have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.
"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer side," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a while too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their offense is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
It suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.
West Ham's sole on the road victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously Forest coach.
So, what exactly do I predict here - can the Hammers continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to go with the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four matches.
My son told me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had much fortune on the road this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality turns out to be rather tight. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six matches.
They have have lots of quality in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.
Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of last month.
But I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be extremely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a poor streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
