Seamer Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Worries.
'Serious blow' for the touring side after Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.
Gus Atkinson further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the ground early on day two in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.
Atkinson experienced discomfort in his left leg after the final ball of the fourth over on Saturday.
The touring camp reported Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and was to take time off the field to undergo evaluation "over the next few hours".
The final Test of the tour at the SCG gets underway at the end of the week.
The visitors have previously lost key quicks Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on the current trip.
A replacement bowler was called up as cover for Wood.
The seamer had a tough time during the first two matches, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.
He was omitted for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.
Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman among just a trio of teammates to reach double figures.
Post a single over at the end of day one, he came back for the second day's play and had nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.
Unfortunately, on the final ball of his spell, he delivered a slower ball to the batsman and promptly felt at his leg.
Atkinson returned to the side for the Melbourne match after being left out the previous Test.
