Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
