Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
