Ariana Grande visited Singapore for the international debut of Wicked: For Good

Passionate supporters of the pop star are calling for that a individual who breached a barrier and touched the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be detained or expelled from Singapore.

A widely shared video depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing camera operators and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a promenade flanked by supporters.

Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the premiere by event staff.

Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was scheduled to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.

Pattern of Incidents

This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram profile features clips of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.

"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is evidently a legal violation," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.

"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.

Supporters Show Disapproval Over the Star's Past Trauma

Many followers blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring many.

"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said one more message on Instagram.

Some fans also criticised event staff at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals demanded digital services to block Mr Wen's content.

Response and Event Details

In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared surprised when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.

Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.

Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore mall, including several who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.

The movie, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-part version of the well-known theatrical musical Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected relationship between two very different sorceresses.

The show itself is a spin-off of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.

They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.

The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning film of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, earning several for excellent wardrobe and production design.
