Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a bizarre crossover event that defies traditional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Uncovered
According to the formal statement, "A mysterious meeting leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of banned ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The narrative features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden cult.
The mission focuses on "bizarre tests and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Content
Players who finish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana alongside several items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Content
This release also introduces the game's third free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This signifies scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
