The realm of Westeros is back once again to televisions. Fans got a first look at the first trailer for the second Game of Thrones prequel, named A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, presented at an important entertainment convention.
Narrative and Protagonists
Based on a series of novellas by the celebrated author, the series follows two unlikely heroes wandering the kingdoms of Westeros. We meet a young, idealistic yet brave knight referred to as Ser Duncan the Tall, paired with his small squire Egg.
Set during an period when the Targaryen family maintains control over the Iron Throne, the plot offers warrior drills, jousting tournaments, and major clashes. Memories of the last dragon persist in the memories of the living, and important journeys are in store for these unlikely companions.
Our guiding light for this series involved tracking the main character in terms of tone and point of view. We wanted fans to experience his sensations—the grime, the agony, the frustration.
Actors and Environment
This preview displays a ancient kingdom filled with knights, rulers, attendants, peasants, and suggestions of mystical features. Featured in the series include several aristocrats and key figures from the royal house.
The narrative occurs one hundred years prior to the events of the original series, and more than seventy years following the era of the first prequel. Unlike prior productions, this installment aims to be briefer and possesses a unique feel.
Artistic Direction
Per the series creator, the priority revolves around realism and commoner's viewpoint. As opposed to epic scale, the production seeks to depict the challenges of feudal existence—the filth, the chill, and the bodily effort of knighthood.
- Less focus on fantasy elements
- Realistic narrative in contrast to previous shows
- Hopeful touch amid bleak environment
The writers noted that this program does not revolve around nobility or royalty, but on the contrary start from the ground up. Audiences can expect a closer and rough representation of life in Westeros.
